Catecholamines in Urine or Plasma

Today, LC-EC has been established as a fast and reliable method for the determination of catecholamines and metabolites in plasma and urine. A clinical kit contains all the necessary chemicals and  materials for sample preparation and analysis.

Urine samples are processed in a number of steps:

• Adjusting pH prior to SPE, addition of internal standard
• Solid phase extraction, apply sample on SPE column
• Washing step, followed by elution and sample collection
• Injection on HPLC

The ALEXYS Clinical Analyzer together with a commercially available sample prep kit is a dedicated system solution for routine analysis of urinary catecholamines.

System configuration

For the analysis of catecholamines we selected the VT03 electrochemical cell. This cell has an excellent reproducibility and the best possible detection sensitivity. The system has been optimized and tested with the ClinRep kit from RECIPE. Several of our customers have proven that the system is compatible with kits from other suppliers as well (i.e. Chromsystems).

The ALEXYS system comprises the following parts:
