Choline and Acetylcholine

Choline and acetylcholine

Left: a blank, 2 nM and 10 nM ACh and Ch standard (5 µL). Right: 100 fmol on column, different concentrations and injection volumes.

ALEXYS Acetylcholine Analyzer

  • Easily exchangeable, enzyme coated electrode
  • Detection limit 10 fmol on column (2 nM/5µL)
  • Total analysis time < 12 min

The Acetylcholine Analyzer has been developed for the analysis of acetylcholine and choline. Both are analysed by micro HPLC with an Immobilised Enzyme Reactor (IMER). The method is optimised for analysis of small sample volumes at low nanomolar detection limit.

An additional Choline Oxidase IMER is available to either suppress the Choline peak (pre-column placement) or detect Choline only (used as post-column IMER). A Choline Oxidase/Catalase IMER is available to convert Choline (ChOx) and to oxidise the released H2O2 (Catalase) to completely suppress the Choline response.

System configuration

The ALEXYS micro LC-EC system uses a Flexcell with easily exchangeable working electrode disks in combination with the ACh/Ch assay kit and peroxidase kit of BASi. The ALEXYS system comprises the following parts:

  • AS 110 autosampler, cool, micro
  • LC 110S HPLC pump
  • OR 110 organiser rack ACH analyzer
  • Clarity data acquisition software
  • DECADE II SCC
  • Flexcell, GC WE, HyREF
